Hi everyone, this is Achilleas from Suncord Audiolab and in the PLUG-INS series I will be demonstrating one plug-in per week something that I really like and always enjoy using and will try to keep these videos as short and to the point as I can so, this week we’re going to see a plug in that’s called bx_boom it comes from Brainworx and PlugIn Alliance and helps you out with shaping the low end of your kick drum so let’s see how it sounds here’s a drumset recorded we have just inserted in the kick-drum channel it works in mono and stereo as well and first we’re going to listen a little bit before we enable the plug-in so this is the interface, nice and simple only to knobs here if you can call them that way a kick drum it goes from -100 to +100 and the other thing you can control is this pedal which has 3 modes LO MID AND HI low mod is for processing 32 HZ MID mode is for processing around 48 HZ and HI mode is for processing around 64 HZ so now will start by demonstrating the negative values of the knob which is for reducing the Boom effect so what this actually does is reducing the release of the low end thus making it tighter so, you can do the same thing with a compressor bypass… let’s move on to the positive values starting with the LO mode which is focused around 32 HZ kick drum controls sensitivity and intensity of the boom effect huge low end! the LO mode is my favourite let’s try the MID mode which is focused at 48 HZ huge difference let’s also try the HI mode you won’t be using this as much because this one most of the times overlaps with the bass guitar frequencies and even though the LO mode is focused is suposed to focus on 32 HZ you can listen the boom effect at higher frequencies as well so, you can find this plug-in in the plug-in alliance website I wouldn’t call it very cheap it’s around 50 euros (49 $ actually!) but it’s somethig you will definetely going to use (a lot!) so, that’s it for now see you soon with another plug in Cheers!!!
